An Alaskan Meltdown
With the recent heat wave, Igloos in Southern Alaska are melting in astounding numbers leaving many families without homes. The insurance companies claim that the Eskimos are not covered for melt insurance and will not receive anything for their claims. Local authorities are having transportation problems, with only one truck in the area. They do have a fleet of snow mobiles, but with the lack of snow they aren’t working very well. Local hunter named Losing Hope has said that no one saw this coming since their homes have remained frozen for hundreds of years. With the release of new data from the climate change institute( which is an institute for the change of the climate) stating that melting was soon to occur, insurance companies started adding the stipulation that melting would not be covered by home insurance. Most Eskimos were unaware of the changes and the others that had read it thought it was a joke. On a lighter note the children are happy because with the addition of new rivers and lakes they have taken to swimming for the first time.
FEMAs reaction to this disaster is late once again and with only two planes flying into the area it is estimated the problem won’t be dealt until next winter. Blame is not being put on them because warning came late. They were told only 2 years ago of this upcoming disaster. FEMA representatives tell us that there signals got crossed and sent aid to Alabama instead. The Governor of Alabama was surprised to see FEMA arrive and begin building homes and fixing roads but he decided not to say anything because he has a large family and decided to give everyone a new home. This was considered a huge success for FEMA but later when they realized they went to the wrong state they considered it a minor mistake compared to their other recent blunders.
There is no telling when or if the there homes will once again freeze but leading Alaskan Climatologist said, “It will have to get cold sometime this is Alaska for Pete's sake”. The outcry from Alaskan communities has now been heard around the world and many countries have been chipping in by sending them ice blocks. So far this has been unsuccessful because on arrival they have only been getting pools of water, but better methods of transport are being thought of as we speak. Alaskans are hoping for a chilly Summer, and figure if winter was this hot, summer has got to be cold. There are no studies that are supporting this idea but then again there aren’t any that don’t either. So they will just hold out and wait and see what the weather has in store for them.
